Avery started Kindergarten!  She has absolutely loved school and is excited about learning.img_3303 img_3304 img_3307 img_3309img_3314

Raegan started her second year of Preschool.  She only goes two days a week but enjoys it and has asked why she can’t go every day like Avery.img_3316 img_3326 img_3327

September

Avery got glasses!  She had her well child checkup and she read the eye chart and they recommended we get her eyes checked.  Sure enough this girl needed glasses.  We picked out some dark purple Princess glasses and she is so cute!!img_7256

It has been a busy couple of months!  I get so busy with everyday life and blogging completely slips my mind.  I know many of you like to know what the girls have been up to and how big they have gotten.  Maybe I will find a good way to keep up with the blog eventually!

I started this post after Christmas and I am just now getting it finished up!  Hopefully I can at least get in some monthly posts!

24 months

We just celebrated the twins 2nd Birthday!

These two sweet girls are growing up too fast.IMG_3262

Skylee @ 24 months:

Weight: 23 lbs 8 oz – (18 month: 21 lbs 8 oz)
Height:  34 1/4 in – (18 month: 32 in)
Head: 47 in (18 month: 46 in)

Rylee @ 24 months:

Weight: 22 lbs 11 oz – (18 month: 20 lbs 12 oz)
Height:  33 3/4 in – (18 month: 32 1/2 in)
Head: 46 1/2 in (18 month: 46 in)

These measurements are not the most accurate, but the doctor didn’t feel the need to have the nurse try and measure the twins again.  I should have taken some backup to this doctors appointment.  These girls wanted nothing to do with sitting on the scale or laying down on the table so they could do their measurements!  Crying and a good death grip around my neck made things really hard to get done!  Once the doctor came in they had gotten a little more comfortable and did great for him and didn’t cry at all.

Where we are at this month:

PLAY

These girls are in full toddler mode when it comes to play.  They are running, climbing, and jumping!  They were climbing out of their cribs so much we finally broke down and transitioned them to toddler beds.  This has been a somewhat easy transition.  The main issue is during nap time they will play and play and sometimes not get their nap.  They have enjoyed going to the pool this summer.  Once they got comfortable being in the water they loved just floating around and playing in the water.

As of lately their favorite toys are baby dolls.  They will change the dolls diaper and feed them bottles.  They hold them with care and will even bounce them.  It’s the cutest thing!

Strollers from Grandma!

EAT
Food has been an issue lately.  All of the sudden they wont eat meat??  I’m thinking its just a phase, maybe brought on by teething, but hoping it passes soon.  We offer them meat whenever we eat it, but once it is in their mouth they will spit it out and say “Yuck”!  Sometimes they will eat chicken nuggets but not always.  They still eat fruits and most veggies we’ve offered them pretty good.
Not in the mood for pictures!

Not in the mood for pictures!

SLEEP

They have been sleeping good for the most part.  We have the occasional waking at night but I don’t typically have to do anything.  They sometimes fall out of bed, which I hate, but keep in mind they are in toddler beds which are very low to the ground.  I also have their baby quilts on the floor folded in half so its a cushioned fall!IMG_3267

Skylee –

Miss Skylee has definitely taken on the role of being the big sister with Rylee.  She cares for her in such a sweet way.  She gives the funniest facial expressions and gets that from her Daddy!  Sky has quite the attitude for a 2 year old.  Sometimes its funny, but most of the time its like “really? already?!”  She is usually the first to run to daddy when he gets home!  Her and Avery have a lot in common!  Both Daddy’s girls and addicted to the Ipad!

Words: They have taken off in the vocabulary area so I can’t even list all the words they now say.  They are up to 2-3 word sentences.  Can repeat almost anything you say!

Teeth: 16

Likes: iphone/ipad (seriously she is obsessed!), binky (not needing as much anymore), Daddy (still daddys girl), Big Sisters (they love playing with sisters), Bugatti (she enjoys bossing him around!), outside (a favorite for all my girls), shoes (completely obsessed!)

Dislikes: sisters bothering her, being hungry, mommy or daddy leaving, when anyone steals her stuff especially the Ipad!

Boots!!

Boots!!

Rylee –

Definitely a mama’s girl!  I have to carry this girl around more than any of the others, but she is the baby of the family, so she gets a pass!  Rylee is the sweetest little girl!  She cares for others but especially sister bear!  She is more willing to give hugs, but also wants her space when she is just done with people!  Not as talkative as Skylee.  More like Raegan and on the shy side.

Words: Repeating almost anything you say

Teeth: 16

Likes:  iphone/ipad (likes to play on them, but doesn’t last long), binky (very attached), Big Sisters (loves when they play with her), Bugatti (like to sit or lay on him), climbing (will climb on/up anything), outside (adventurous), shoes (obsessed)

Dislikes: sisters bothering her, waiting to eat/being hungry, mommy leaving, teething.IMG_3291

Rylee had such a growth spurt this time around that the nurse measured her twice!

PLAY

The pediatrician was very impressed with the girls motor skills!  Walking, running, climbing, spinning….they are trying to catch up to big sisters in everything they do!  They are getting better at running not so wobbly these days.

These two are going to love being outside as much as big sisters.  They get so excited when we have a nice day and get to go play outside.  We can’t wait for spring/summer to hurry up and get here!

These two love the park!

These two love the park!

Disappearing into big sisters room to play and get into their toys is a common occurrence these days!  Raegan even told me one day “they’ll make a mess in my room if they play”! These two are in to everything, especially shoes!  Avery now keeps her door closed at all times so the babies don’t get into her stuff!  If they aren’t playing with toys they are trying on shoes and walking around in them!

Playing dress up with sisters

Playing dress up with sisters

EAT

They are still good eaters but are starting to show a picky side.  Sometimes Skylee will eat something and Rylee wont so when they finish eating what they like we will catch them trading plates!  I guess that’s one benefit to having a twin!  They are big fans of fruit.  I can’t think of a fruit that we have offered that they haven’t eaten.  They love Annie’s Mac n Cheese!  I think that is probably their favorite right now.  They have also become addicted to fruit snacks.  These are a limited snack in our house and I hate that they love them so much!IMG_7377 IMG_7538

SLEEP

They have been sleeping good for the most part.  We have the occasional waking at night but I dont typically have to do anything.  Skylee had a bad night a few weeks ago where she woke up screaming and crying, when I got in their room she was pointing at things and acted like it was scaring her.  After the third time of her doing this I had the hubby go in and see if he could help her.  He put her bed back where it typically is (it had been moved while we were cleaning and never got put back) and she slept the rest of the night!

Twin Dad!

Skylee –

Got her binky stuck!

Got her binky stuck!

This girl has developed quite the attitude!  The looks that she gives you if she doesn’t like what you say or do, watch out!  She is very independent.  Only asking for help after she has tried doing it herself.  She thinks she is older/bigger than what she is!

Words: mama, what, Avery, Buggy(Bugatti – the dog), daddy, more, look, no, owee(ouch), done – *I’m sure there are more words but these are what I recall hearing the most!

Teeth: 12

Likes: iphone/ipad, binky, Daddy, Big Sisters, Bugatti, climbing, outside, riding in the car

Dislikes: sisters bothering her, being overtired, falling, losing the binky, being hungry, mommy or daddy leaving, when anyone steals her stuff!

Rylee –IMG_7332
Rylee is the sweetest little girl!

Showing concern for everyone, but especially for sister girl, snacks, treats, sippy’s, toys – you must always have two.
One for you, and one to offer for Skylee..if that doesn’t melt my heart.

This girl is growing up way too fast…she is showing major signs of being ready to start potty training.  She has successfully gone 6 or more times in the potty.  The trouble is keeping with it when we are not home all day.

Words: mama, dada, ya, Sky, done, nana (banana), locks(blocks), more, owee(ouch), look, no –  *I’m sure there are more words but these are what I recall hearing the most!

My Diastasis Recti Surgery | One Year Post Op

Here you can see why I had surgery.

Here you can see my recovery.

It’s hard for me to believe that it’s been a year since I went through diastasis recti surgery.  I just had my one year post op appointment with my surgeon.  She was so happy with my results that she said I was a poster child for this surgery.  While at my appointment they took photos, then they showed me the before and after photos…I couldn’t believe the difference!  I think I forgot how bad my belly looked before surgery!

Before & After

Before & After

Due to the number of requests I receive about how I’m doing these days, I wanted to give an update along with pictures. I’ll answer some of the more frequent questions I get, and I’ll go into a little more detail on what life is like after the surgery.

IMG_2987

  • How soon post partum did you have your surgery?

I was 4 1/2 months post partum when I had my surgery.  The only reason I did it so soon after birth was for insurance reasons.  For the sake of your family I would say wait until the baby/babies are older!

  • How are you feeling?

I feel great!  The only time I notice anything is when I am working out.  Stretching or tightening the abdominal muscles does feel strange at times, with the occasional burning sensation.  The burning sensation I’m referring to, is not the muscle burn you get when working out, but a burning pain that I felt after my surgery.  I only notice this when I am pushing myself and my core is straining.

  • How long is the recovery?

I’m sure this is different for every person.  For me, I was feeling almost back to normal by 3 months post op.  I started to try and get some workouts in around 6 months post op, but time was still limited for that so not a lot of working out going on!

  • Do you regret your decision to have the surgery?

No, I am very happy with my decision.  I haven’t had any major issues with this surgery and feel so much better physically.  No more back pain, or workout limits, along with no longer having a terrible looking mommy tummy!

  • Are you happy with the results?

Absolutely!!  My surgeon did an amazing job!  Other than the fact that my skin is so thin below my belly button, which can’t be fixed, and is the result of having four babies, I think my belly looks great.

  • Would I recommend this surgery?

Well I would suggest trying physical therapy first.  Sometimes the gap can be fixed with the correct exercises.  Then if the therapist suggests that you get the surgery, then go for it!

IMG_2990

I am currently using my Young Living essential oils to help with my scarring. My incision already looks pretty great and if I used my oils consistently I think it would be almost gone by now.  I’m currently using Lavendar, Lemongrass, and Vetiver diluted with a carrier oil on my incision. I’m also using these oils on my stretch marks.IMG_2988

I also used my essential oils once I got home from having my surgery. At the time, I only had the Young Living starter kit and was limited with what would help best with my pain management. I diffused Frankincense, Lavender, and Lemon oils for the entire time I was in bed recovering, along with putting Frankincense and Peppermint oils on my feet.

I hope I have covered most of the questions about the surgery.  Now I just need to get myself back in shape!

15 months

The months just seem to fly by these days!  The girls are learning and doing new things everyday and I love watching how they interact with each other.  We are now seeing them communicate with each other.  I wouldn’t say they are “twin talking” just doing the normal baby talking but they do understand each other!

Skylee @ 15 months:
Weight: 19 lbs 4 oz – 17% (12 month: 17 lbs 2 oz)
Height:  30 1/4 in – 35% (12 month: 28 1/2 in)
Head: 45 1/2 in (12 month: 44 1/2 in)

Rylee @ 15 months:
Weight: 17 lbs 14 oz – 7% (12 month: 16 lbs 11 oz)
Height:  29 3/4 in – 17% (12 month: 28 3/4 in)
Head: 45 in (12 month: 44 in)

2012

This is the first time they have been more than a couple ounces apart on their weight!  We saw our new pediatrician at this appointment.  Dr. Sears resigned and this was her replacement.  I was very happy with the new pediatrician after meeting him and watching him interact with the girls.  Appointments with twins aren’t easy when you’re alone and to add to that they are going through the separation anxiety stage and didn’t want to be put down.  The new Doctor was so patient and friendly and took the time to let the girls get comfortable with him touching them before he got started.

He was very pleased with their good health and growth.  These girls are just very petite!2017

Teething has slowed down a bit.  We got a small break but I have a feeling more are coming.  They are starting to get that grumpy/fussy/teething thing going on.  I hated teething with just one child but having two at the same time is rough!

*The twins are teething again!  I’m just now finishing this post and they are at 16 months and have a first molar coming in.

We had our first stomach bug and it hit both of them!  One evening Skylee threw up maybe an hour after we put them to bed.  We get her all cleaned up and back in bed, leave the room, and Rylee throws up.  This continued on until about 3am, one then the other.  It lingered for a couple days and then they were back to normal.

2014

Where we are at this month:

PLAY

These babes are everywhere and into everything!  Walking, running, climbing, spinning….they think they can do anything that big sisters do!  It is so fun to watch them get caught up in a game of chasing big sisters around the house. Seeing those little legs going as quickly as possible but still wobbly cause they can’t quite run and listening to all the giggles!  Melts my heart.

Both girls are playing with dolls a lot these days. They especially love putting the doll in their baby doll strollers and pushing them around. One day they found Avery’s water baby and got in the biggest sister fight over it!  I knew immediately what these girls were getting for Christmas!  They also love being pushed around in the baby doll strollers!  Thanks to big sisters deciding to put them in the strollers and push them around.  Sometimes the twins will push each other, but I think majority of the time Skylee is the one riding and Rylee is pushing.

2013

Skylee loves to play with shoes.  She is shoe obssessed!  It doesn’t matter if its one of big sisters pretend shoes, Avery’s, Raegan’s, or even my shoes, Skylee will be putting them on and walk around in them.
Rylee has recently taken a liking to playing with blocks.  She likes to stack them and then show them to you saying “locks” and getting excited about what she has done!  She will also occasionally pick up a pretend shoe and walk around in them, but she isn’t as into it as Skylee is!
IMG_2854

EAT

These babes love to eat!  They don’t like having to wait for their food either.  They don’t have too many things they will not eat.  We are still introducing foods but most of the time they eat whatever we give them!

Skylee is the messy eater and just shovels in the food one fist full at a time!  We are starting to have to tell her to slow down or finish whats in her mouth before she can have more!  This could be why she has jumped up in her weight!

Rylee is a very clean eater.  Only if its a messy meal like lasagna does she get messy like Skylee!  She is very lady like with her eating!

Rylee's newest face!

Rylee’s newest face!

SLEEP

We have been sleeping good but then the teething started up again.

Sleep has been rough!  Sometimes they sleep all night without a peep, some nights they fuss just until they find their bink and go right back to sleep, then other nights they are up and wanting cuddled for a bit, a frozen bink, or even need some medicine for the pain. We have yet to drop that morning nap around 10:30am and I am fine with keeping it as I can get some things done while they are down.  After lunch around 1:30-2pm they take their long nap and sleep until 3:30-4pm.  Bedtime is at 8:30pm.  My kids do not do early bedtimes!  Never have!

2016

Skylee –IMG_2875
Miss Sky has definitely taken on the big sister role.  She is quick to help or lead Rylee around and even be protective over her, and it is just the sweetest thing ever…sometimes!  For the most part she is independent and does her own thing and likes to do things by herself.  She will get SO frustrated sometimes when trying to do things without help and its not until she is at her breaking point that she will finally let me help her!  She is also starting to be quite the Daddy’s girl.  She gets so excited to see Daddy when he gets home from work and will run right up to him!

At any sound of music she will start dancing or head bobbing.

Words: mama, what, Avery, Buggy(Bugatti – the dog), daddy, more, done – *I’m sure there are more words but these are what I recall hearing the most!

Teeth: 8 1/2

Likes: iphone/ipad, clapping(she claps all the time), watching big sisters, sleep, Rylee, Daddy, binky, eating, sucking on fingers, blowing raspberries, bath time, brushing gums, walking, being outside, mommy, dancing, music, dolls, chasing sisters

Dislikes: sisters bothering her, being overtired, falling, losing the binky, being hungry, mommy or daddy leaving, when anyone steals her stuff!

Rylee –
IMG_2878Rylee is the sweetest little girl!  Very caring and easy going.  She does get frustrated with her doll stroller sometimes and can have quite the meltdown.  She will quietly go off and play by herself and be perfectly content.  While teething she does like to be held a lot and is a mommy’s girl.  Lots of evenings I am cooking dinner with this girl chasing me around the kitchen or hanging on my hip!  Neither of the girls are fans of being around someone they don’t know very well but Rylee seems to be the worst about it.

Words: mama, dada, ya, Sky, done, nana (banana), locks(blocks), more –  *I’m sure there are more words but these are what I recall hearing the most!

Teeth: 8 1/2

Likes: walking, sleep, clapping, binky, Skylee, big sisters, eating, cuddling/hugging, sucking on fingers, blowing raspberries, the ipad/iphone, brushing gums, bathtime, music, dancing, spinning, climbing

Dislikes: sisters bothering her, waiting to eat/being hungry, being overtired, mommy leaving, teething.

IMG_2873

I keep telling myself I will get better at blogging but life happens and this gets put on hold.  So this post is a combo of months 15 and 16!

12 months

We have officially survived the first year of raising twins.  It has been challenging, exhausting, and hard.  It has also been fun and exciting!  This year just flew by and I am so excited to see what this next year brings.

Skylee @ 12 months:
Weight: 17 lbs 2 oz (10 month: 14 lbs 4 oz)
Height:  28 1/2 in (10 month: 27 3/4 in)
Head: 44 1/2 in (10 month: 43 1/2 in)

Rylee @ 12 months:
Weight: 16 lbs 11 oz (10 month: 14 lbs 9 oz)
Height:  28 3/4 in (10 month: 27 1/2 in)
Head: 44 in (10 month: 42 1/2 in)

Dr. Sears was very happy with the twins growth and have even moved up on the growth chart at 12% and 8%.  Sears also commented that she isn’t used to fraternal twins mirroring each other in their growth like these two have done this entire first year!

IMG_2519

This month has been a little rough with the pains of teething.  Both girls are working on cutting their top two teeth and they started within days of each other.  Rylee is leading the way and has half of one tooth in and the other poking thru, but Skylee is following suit and is cutting teeth the exact same way.  These girls do everything together.IMG_2498

Where we are at this month:

PLAY

Walking has officially started!  These girls are still unsteady and not walking everywhere they go, unless they have something to hold on to, but they are walking in short distances to go where they want.  I think if they weren’t interrupted by the older sisters they would be doing better, but big sisters get excited and run up to them causing them to stop or even fall down.  I have noticed if nobody is around the twins do so much better and do more walking then crawling.

These two love going down slides and are also getting brave and climbing up the slide after sliding down.  We have been going to the pool once sometimes twice a week all summer and the last two trips the twins have decided they are ready to get in the water!  They love the water but it was always too cold for them.  One of those times I didn’t even put them in their swimsuits, but thankfully had some swim diapers to put on them, and they swam in their sundress!
They do so good at playing together with the occasional sister fight.  They love making their way to big sisters rooms, and making a mess of things, but enjoy playing with the toys!
* I have been trying to write this post all month and can now say these girls are officially walking!
IMG_2488

EAT

They are officially on whole milk and other than the fact they don’t like it cold this transition has been easy.  The Doctor reminded me that they no longer need milk as their main source of nutrition and to cut it back to no more than 20oz a day.  We are still working on the transition to a sippy cup but they are getting better at drinking from it.  They understand how to drink from it but are very attached to the bottle so this is taking much longer than it did for the big sisters.  They eat breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner and have a bottle at bedtime.  For the most part they eat anything I give to them with the occasional picky day where they decide they no longer like something.

IMG_2490

SLEEP

Sleep has been rough with the teething. After lunch around 1:30-2pm they take their long nap and sleep until 4pm.  Bedtime is still at 8:30pm and will most likely stay this way.

Skylee –IMG_2485 IMG_2511This girl has been taking turns at being the easy going twin!  Typically she is the one who has trouble going to others that she isn’t comfortable with or is fussy while mommy is gone, lately she has been the good/happy one and will go to others as long as she is comfortable with you.  Then she’ll turn around and only want mommy!

At any sound of music she will start dancing or head bobbing.

Words: mama, what, Avery, Buggy(Bugatti – the dog), daddy – *I’m sure there are more words but these are what I recall hearing the most!

Teeth: 2 1/2 and another cutting thru

Likes: babbling, clapping(she claps all the time), watching big sisters, sleep, standing up, Rylee, clean diaper, binky, eating, sucking on fingers, blowing raspberries, bathtime, brushing gums, walking, being outside, mommy, dancing, music, walking with Dino or any other toy that moves!

Dislikes: sisters bothering her, being overtired, falling, losing the binky, being hungry, mommy leaving, when Rylee steals her stuff!

Rylee –IMG_2483IMG_2510

Rylee has recently taken on the role of being not so easy going, which is throwing all of us off!  I really think its the teething because on a good day she is back to her old self.  This girl loves to cuddle and hug which I am loving, I know it doesn’t last long.  She recently has started to pat me on the back as she is hugging me.  I love it!

Words: mama, dada, ya, Sky, done, nana (banana) – Also, she just started using the ‘eat’ sign.  *I’m sure there are more words but these are what I recall hearing the most!

Teeth: 3 1/2

Likes: walking, sleep, clapping, binky, Skylee, big sisters, eating, cuddling/hugging, sucking on fingers, blowing raspberries, the ipad/iphone, brushing gums, bathtime, music, dancing, cruising, being on the move, walking with Dino or any toy that moves.

Dislikes: sisters bothering her, waiting to eat/being hungry, being overtired, mommy leaving.

Eleven Months?!

2015-07-20-003 2015-07-20-009

These sweet girls are getting so big and it’s hard to believe we are less than a week away from their 1 year birthday.  I can not believe how fast this year has gone.  I seriously feel like these girls are growing by the minute…there are times where they look bigger to me or I notice a difference in their features after an afternoon nap!  My hubby thinks I’m crazy! I think I’m just observant!2015-07-20-004 2015-07-20-005

Where we are at this month:

PLAY
We have two climbers on our hands!  I am constantly watching these girls climb on to a chair to climb on to the ottoman, climb into their little rocking chairs and stand up, climbing up and into the fireplace, etc.  I feel like I am always on my toes with these two!
These girls are wanting to walk so bad!  Rylee took her first 3 steps June 25th and has been consistently taking the same amount of steps since then, and Skylee took her first 2 steps July 2nd and has been working even harder than Rylee at getting this whole walking thing down!  I really think in the next few weeks these girls will be walking!  Part of me is excited, I love this milestone, and part of me is nervous about having two babies to chase around and all the things they will be getting in to!
These two are getting better at sharing and it melts my heart when I see one of them give a toy to sister because she is crying.  Rylee is currently hugging and I have seen (haven’t been able to capture on camera) her giving Skylee hugs!  You can already tell the bond between these two is strong and they will always be there for one another.
They still love to make their way to big sisters rooms and play with their toys.  One day it had gotten quiet and I went to check on them and they had emptied Raegan’s entire toy box!2015-07-20-013

They are now on a schedule very similar to the big girls.  Eating breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner followed by a 7-8oz bottle 3 times a day.  Last month the girls were willing to try anything, and this month is almost the same for the most part.    Skylee is still pretty good about taking a taste of anything we offer her, but Rylee has become quite the skeptic.  She gives anything directed to her mouth a good examination before she has to put it in her mouth herself.  Then there are days where they completely switch roles and it’s Skylee giving me a hard time about what she is eating!2015-07-20-014

SLEEP

These girls continue to sleep through the night.  There have been a couple times that one of them has woken in the middle of the night due to teething, and typically they will just go right back to sleep.  As of lately that has not been the case.  The other night I was up every 2 hours with Skylee because she was having such a hard time with the teething, gnawing on her binky and rolling all over the place.  I would get her a frozen binky and it would instantly calm her down but it doesn’t last long!  Then in the morning still no teeth!  Ugh!  Teething sucks!

Two naps a day is where we are at.  With the occasional busy day and only getting one nap in.  I’m really loving the two naps a day for now and haven’t even thought about dropping them to one nap a day just yet.  They nap around 10am or 10:30am and then again in the afternoon around 1:30-2pm, which is the same time big sisters go lay down!2015-07-20-002

Skylee –2015-07-20-006

Little Miss Skylee is my drama queen!  I feel like everything is a big deal with this girl.  Full of super cute facial expressions (that I’m always hoping to get on camera) and will start giggling if she hears anyone around her laughing.  She seems to be much more cautious than Rylee, almost as if she is watching to see how it’s done before she jumps in to try.  With pretty much everything so far Rylee has started it first then days later Skylee will start and in a way one up her!  Just like her daddy and being all competitive about it!

Rylee –2015-07-20-015Little Miss Rylee is my easy going girl, most of the time! This girl actually had me thinking Skylee was the one screaming in the Church nursery this last week during VBS only to find out it was Rylee!  Typically Rylee doesn’t scream like that when she is upset but I guess she is taking lesson from big sister Sky! Teething for this girl has been rough making her much more clingy than usual.  Rylee is starting to remind me of Avery with her fearless ways.  She is so active and ready to do so many things, climbing has been something she has been doing for a while now, and even if she falls and gets hurt she will turn around and try doing it again!  This family is full of determination!  Hugging is her newest thing she has started and I just love it!  Arms wrapped tightly around the neck and all!  2015-07-20-012Teeth: 2 bottom, working on top twoWords: mama, dada, yaLikes: babbling and smiling, sleep, binky, touching Skylee, big sisters, eating, cuddling, sucking on fingers, the ipad/iphone, brushing gums, bathtime, music, dancing, cruising, being on the move, practicing walking, climbing.

10 months

10 months and still so little!  These girls are so tiny and petite compared to their big sisters. Their percentage for weight on the growth chart is 2% and 3%!

Height:  27 3/4 in (6 month: 26 in)

Even though they are so small the doctor is not concerned at all and continued to assure me that they are doing fine.  They are staying very consistent with their growth.  I guess these girls are just built like their momma!  Both are in size 3 diapers and size 12 month clothes.  They still only have 2 teeth.

This month we experienced our first sickness.  Rylee was the first to show signs of not feeling well.  At first I thought it was teething, she was a little fussy and had a low fever, but she continued to eat well and was still interacting with me.  Then after her evening nap she woke up with a temperature of 104!  Yikes!  That is the highest we have ever had.  I had been using essential oils to help keep her comfortable and lower her fever but with this high temp I decided to get out the tylenol.  I then gave her a warm bath, poor girl was shivering the entire time, but I knew it would help lower the temp.  She took a bottle after the bath and then went down for bed with a temperature of 101.  The next day she was all better?!?!  Then Avery got sick and was laying around with a fever and a headache for 3 days! Followed by Skylee randomly waking up from a nap throwing up all over herself, then again before bed.  Woke up the next day as if nothing ever happened.  Raegan then got it and was complaining of a headache and had a fever for less than 2 days.  Then back to Skylee throwing up all over me after an afternoon nap, but with a fever this time of 101, gave her a bath and minutes after the bath she threw up again.  At the same time I was dealing with a bad migraine and Alex had to leave work early to come home and help me out!  So for 7 days straight someone was sick, sometimes two at a time, and at one point even I was down.  Lets just say I was exhausted!

Where we are at this month:

PLAY
Well these girls are getting around every where!  They are still just crawling and cruising along anything they can pull themselves up to or push along, but I have seen both of them start to let go as if they are ready to take that step.  One day Alex put Rylee down on her feet and she stood there for a second before squatting down.  A week later and Rylee is now able to stand up all by herself! She has also attempted the first step but leans too far forward and falls down.
They are really starting to play with toys and especially like getting a hold of big sisters toys!  One thing we have noticed that happens on a regular occurrence is when Skylee has a toy or anything really Rylee will come along and just grab it right out of her hand!  Most of the time Skylee doesn’t care and just moves on to the next thing but there has been a few times recently where Skylee takes it back or is given it back by a big sister and doesn’t allow Rylee to take it, quickly moving it if she tries!2015-06-07-002

EAT

They are now eating every 4.5hrs and taking 7-8oz bottles.  They are eating solids 3 times a day.  We have pretty much started feeding these girls any time we have food.  It doesn’t matter if they just finished eating, they will fuss until we give them something!  They are also wanting to feed themselves more these days than have me feeding them by spoon.  They are big fans of the go go squeeze fruit pouches and are able to feed themselves.  Now that they have done more self feeding they don’t like if I try and spoon feed them, especially Skylee!

SLEEP

Sleep is good as long as they are not teething or sick!  The big girls have been waking me up more than these babies!  We have pretty much dropped the evening nap. So they now take a nap around 10:30am and 1:30-2pm, then are off to bed around 8:30pm. This has been amazing because all 4 girls are napping at the same time and going to bed at the same time!

Skylee –2015-06-07-004

Miss Sky is still going through a phase where she only wants her mommy.   With certain people she’s okay but still prefers mommy.

At any sound of music she will start dancing or head bobbing.

Miss Rylee is still so easy going. Even when she was sick she was easy to deal with.   This girl also loves to dance to music!  They have actually been doing this for awhile but as they get more mobile it is more noticeable that they are dancing!

Words: mama, dada, ya

my newest game with Rylee is to ask her questions.  For example: Are you momma’s girl? – Rylee: ya. Are you going to start walking soon? – Rylee: ya!

9 months

These girls are one month closer to turning one year!  I still can’t believe we are already just three short months away from the big one year birthday!

The girls were supposed to have their 9 month doctors appointment at the beginning of May but the day of the appointment I received a phone call saying that we needed to reschedule the appointment.  The doctors kid was sick so she was out for the day.  The down side to that is her schedule is booked and we don’t get to see her until June.  So once again I have no stats on these babies!

Where we are at this month:

We are officially in size 3 diapers.  I think we might be in these for awhile!  They are both outgrowing 6-9 month clothes except for a few here and there so we have started putting those away.  They can still wear 6-12 & 9 month sizes, but we don’t have too many of those, so we have already pulled out all the 12 month and they are fitting into most of those.  Both girls have two bottom teeth and are working on the upper teeth.  They are both babbling a lot!  Skylee is still the most talkative and Rylee seems a little shy but is starting to do more talking.

PLAY

Well these girls are everywhere!  They are crawling to wherever they want to go and this makes it twice as hard to keep an eye on them.  One is going one way and the other is going in the opposite direction. Now that we are in the new house and are mostly settled in the girls are getting more comfortable with crawling around.  That means it is now a lot harder to lose track of one of the babies!  They are also cruising all over the place.  Anything they can pull up to they will walk along.  They can even pull themselves up using my leg, but its not always at the best time for me, I’m either cooking or washing dishes, etc.  I have even seen Rylee let go a few times but she immediately squats down.

EAT

We did end up changing their schedule a bit and the girls are doing awesome with it.  They are now eating every 4.5hrs and taking 7-8oz bottles.  They are eating solids 3 times a day.  They seem to want to eat whatever we are eating even if they just finished eating their own food!  They are big fans of Annie’s Mac n Cheese!  They have also tried turkey, bread, muffins, cheese and I’m sure there is more.

They eat avocados, bananas, apples, blueberries, green beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, peas, yogurt, Cheerios, Puffs, and baby oatmeal.  IMG_2228 IMG_2229

SLEEP

These girls have been sleeping really good up until the last few days.  I was really concerned with how they would do in the new house.  The first night had a rough start.  Their cribs were setup on opposite walls and they have never slept that far away from each other so I wondered if that had something to do with it.  So the next day we pushed the cribs to the same wall and they have slept great since then.  Then the teething started up again!  I’m not always having to go in but I do get woken up to one of them whining throughout the night.  Most of the time they go back to sleep on their own.

Naps are still going strong!  Most days they take 3 naps.  A nap in the morning, afternoon, and a catnap in the evening.  As long as we get in at least 2 naps they do ok but if we miss two naps its not a good day!

Sky's newest silly face!

Sky’s newest silly face!

Miss Sky is very opinionated!  She is very particular in who she goes to and seems to be the most attached to me at this time.  There are a handful of people she is okay with but if you are not one of those people she will let you know!  She is very talkative and I love listening to her and trying to carry on a conversation with her.  You can definitely tell she is the “oldest” of the two!  She will play by herself but seems to be more social and likes to have someone with her.

Likes: babbling (she talks all day), big sisters, sleep, standing up, Rylee, clean diaper, binky, eating, sucking on fingers, jumparoo, blowing raspberries, bathtime, brushing gums, riding on the Dino toy, crawling, being outside, mommy.

Dislikes: dirty diaper, sisters bothering her, being overtired, falling, losing the binky, grass, when Rylee steals her stuff!

Miss Rylee is my easy going girl.  She will typically go to anyone and be okay with it.  She has no problem playing by herself and doing her own thing.  She has started this new form of crying/whining and it is her way of saying she needs something, is ready for a nap, or just wants to be held.  She is also the one that Avery will try and carry around and play with the most and most of the time Rylee just goes with it!

8 months

Another month has come and gone.  Filled with many new milestones for these sweet girls!

The girls don’t go back to the pediatrician until 9 months so we don’t have any stats on their weight and height, but they are definitely growing!2015-04-27-019 2015-04-27-020

Where we are at this month:

They are both outgrowing Size 2 diapers, we have had a few blowouts.  We are finishing up our last pack and moving on to Size 3. They are wearing 6-9 month and 6-12 month clothes.  Both girls have two teeth.  They are both babling a lot!  Its so fun to just make up what you think it sounds like, and sometimes it really sounds like that is what they said.  Skylee is the most talkative and Rylee seems a little shy.2015-04-27-018 2015-04-27-017
PLAY

Well these girls are everywhere!  They are crawling to wherever they want to go and this makes it twice as hard to keep an eye on them.  One is going one way and the other is going in the opposite direction.  We have had to keep them away from the dog bowls!  They love making their way into Avery and Raegan’s room and playing with their toys.  I usually have to go in and do a quick pick up to make sure there isn’t anything they could put in their mouth and swallow.  They are also pulling up to everything and cruising.  They do the most cruising in their cribs and around the ottoman in the living room.  They think they are so big and can even turn around and stand with their back to the crib/ottoman.  It will be really crazy when these girls decide to start taking their first steps!  I am so curious as to when they will walk, will it be early like Avery who was officially walking at 9 months or like Raegan who decided she would start walking the day after her first birthday!

We have these Dino toys that can be used to ride on or walk with.  They love them and can even get off of them by themselves.  They can stand up with one but not climb on it yet.  They really love it when big sisters sit on it with them and ride around the house.  Lots of smiles!2015-04-27-016 2015-04-27-015

EAT

The girls have been eating every 4 hrs and taking in 7 oz bottles, but I think we are about to change that.  They just arent interested in eating and I am trying to determine if its teething related, being too active to want to eat, or if they are ready to go longer between feedings.  They are still under the recommended ounces per day and I plan to discuss this with their pediatrician at their checkup coming up.  We can’t force feed them!  They are eating solids 2-3 times a day, usually at lunch and dinner.  They eat avocados, bananas, apples, green beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, peas(not a fan of right now), and baby oatmeal.  They also started eating Cheerios this month!

She didn't like touching the grass!

SLEEP

This month we have been sleeping great!  They are still taking 3 naps a day!  We only had one night where both girls woke up screaming right before I went to bed.  I went in to see what the problem was and after they both continued screaming the hubby came in to help.  Well we realized they were having teething pains and were just gnawing on their pacis, so I went and got an essential oil to put on them and they calmed down within 20 minutes and went back to sleep and slept all night!  We are moving this weekend and I’m really hoping this doesn’t cause any sleep issues once we are in the new house!
