Well the girls are 4 months already! Time is just flying by and I can’t believe how much faster it seems to go when I have 4 little girls to watch! The girls had their 4 month checkup with the pediatrician…
Here are their stats:
Skylee @ 4 months:
Weight: 11 lbs 14 oz (2 month: 9 lbs 15.8 oz)
Height: 24 1/4 in (2 month: 23 in)
Head: 40 in (2 month: 38 in)
Rylee @ 4 months:
Weight: 11 lbs 10 oz (2 month: 9 lbs 15.8 oz)
Height: 24 1/2 in (2 month: 23 1/2 in)
Head: 39 1/2 in (2 month: 37 1/2 in)
Still very close in size!
Our pediatrician said both girls are doing great and growing at a good rate!
Where we are at this month:
They are both getting better at doing tummy time. Now going as long as 5 minutes or more! They are beginning to play more with their toys. We have a ball that they both like to play with and if one has it than the other is just staring at it! I keep meaning to pick up another one so they each can have one! When sitting in the boppy pillows they both are pulling themselves forward trying to sit up. I had Skylee sitting in front of me on the floor and just barely holding her, she was doing a great job of holding her own weight. It wont be too much longer and we will have babies sitting on their own!
The girls are eating every 4 hrs and taking in 6 oz bottles. We have started them on rice cereal, not for replacement of a meal, but more for their motor development so that when we are ready for cereal, fruits, and veggies at 6 months the tongue and motor movements involved in eating solids will come easier to them. We started with a tablespoon of cereal mixed with breast milk and feed it to them with a spoon, but they were not a fan of the taste at all! So after a few days I bought some bananas to add to it and they are handling it so much better. We will probably continue with the cereal and either banana or avocado until they reach 6 months.
Sleep is still good for both babies.
Crib naps during the day are going great, their longest nap is mid-morning (about 10-10:30am) and they’ll sleep for about 2 hours or so. They go down again for another nap after lunch and this one will be another hour and a half to two hours. The afternoons naps are shorter, like cat naps, just about an hour or so and are usually in their swings. For the most part they go back to sleep within about an hour and a half after each feeding. They start fussing and rubbing their faces with their little hands and that really lets me know they are ready for sleep.
At night we are slowly getting better. Their last feeding is around 8:30-9pm and they are usually in bed by 9:30-10pm and sleeping until 8:30-9am. Skylee usually wakes a few times for the binky throughout the night but is getting better. Rylee is a great sleeper and rarely wakes up on her own just for the binky. I even talked to the pediatrician about it and discussed moving Rylee to their room and working with Skylee and her bad sleep association…but I just can’t bring myself to splitting them up!
